What's exciting about this is we've shown at global scale that #OpenAccess leads to more use of research. We tried super hard to identify subsets of the data where this wasn't true but there really aren't many This is robust evidence that #OpenAccess does what it was meant to

...and specifically there is evidence of greater use by regions that historically have poor access to closed research outputs. Lots more to dig through and we hope many will, read the paper (and the ~100 pages of supplementary material) for the full story!

I’m quite troubled that a basic website with very little verified information concerning “predatory publishing” is being shared widely. What about the sanctity of peer review? I don’t think that anyone sharing the link to the site itself can name a single human behind it.

Its great to see Australia engaging with international perspectives on research evaluation. We are looking forward to hearing what @jameswilsdon has to say when he visits @CurtinUni as part of his Australian tour! @CameronNeylon
Introduced by ARC’s Chief Research Officer Professor Christina Twomey, it was great to hear from @jameswilsdon today on the shifting landscape of research on research, through his work as a meta-researcher and Director of the Research on Research Institute (@RoRInstitute).

I've been disengaging from this site for a while and I'm really not checking back here much now If you're interested in further conversation you'll find me over at @cameronneylon@scholar.social on #Mastodon

It means a substantial drop in connections, but I suspect I've been downgraded here by the algorithm for a while w/out a blue checkmark. And it's unclear to me how many of the ~9k are real But if you're keen to continue conversation I'll be in the other place

Everyone moving from twitter to mastodon is very likely to fail because it is a collective action problem, benefits depend on others actions. Here's how it can succeed. It will require your commitment for 1 month to do a few things. Read and retweet if you commit to do them.
Even if the Mastodon migration only affects #academictwitter, it could be a great success. Social media is like the local pub. The food quality is irrelevant. As long as the people I want to talk to and hear from are there, I'm happy. I'm at: nerdculture.de/web/@briannos…

I wrote a short post about the theme of #OpenAccessWeek2022: Open for Climate Justice. We also created displays at several #USask Library branches to visualize the barriers people face in accessing climate change research (based on data collected by the @COKIproject).
It's Open Access Week! The 2022 #OAweek theme is #OpenForClimateJustice Ensuring the immediate and free availability of articles and other research outputs from climate change research reduces barriers. Learn more at ow.ly/8gv450LhPyZ #USask
