If Doug Ford announced tomorrow a subsidy for small-business landlords under 10 units, the ability to rent to OW recipients with 80% market rent for a 1 or 2 bedroom, there wouldn't be tents in our parks or backyards. #BasicIncome does the same thing just with your pocket and no application stigma. #onpoli

At the PBO's per-person max (~$22k), $198M could theoretically cover ~9,000 person-years (1,800 for 5 years) of full GBI-level support (or more at lower effective rates for many recipients), before offsets/behavioural adjustments. The PBO emphasizes the program is not a massive new net spend if other supports are consolidated.
$198M / 3,500 parking spots = $56,571 per spot. But no money for affordable housing, healthcare, education, OSAP, and ODSP. Got it. @fordnation

Just so we're clear: IF we had a #BasicIncome right now, using the same formula as in 2018 from Ontario, but updated to today's measures.... That 11 million people would also be included in it. Likely lifting the entire 5th quintile nearly out of poverty. It was passed up for an election. #cdnpoli

Wow something changed with @AnthropicAI's Claude Sonnet lately. It literally suggested going back a version in code instead of incessently trying to find a solution. Nice error checking 😉

Dept. of Gov't Exemption? #DOGE

A better use of the notwithstanding clause than using it against 30 homeless in a parking lot is to use it against a vacant lot left undeveloped for 30 years.

Seriously? We're about to host the World Cup and our gov't would rather have last call at 4am than take the provincial HST off food and non-alcoholic beverages. #onpoli

It's been 7 years since a rate change and 13 years since the earnings exemption was raised. That is our emergency blanket vs homelessness? #onpoli

Any property that is in condemnable state or vacant, that the developer refuses to tear down, should be rezoned so the homeless can live there (indemnity free) until the demolition permit is served. That'd speed up 30 year vacant lots.

Again, another late night agro with a 1am @PizzaPizzaLtd driver, why? 'cuz they call over and over again driving around looking for a Unit number of a townhouse....Took 5 minutes to realize it's because they changed the delivery paper slips and they cut off the address. 😡😡😡

Thats a lot of parks cleared. #Kitchener
That's right folks. 1,333 people could live there a year for that price according to Ontario Works rates which have gone unchanged since 2018. #CabinetShuffle anyone? #onpoli

The only thing Tim Hortons announcement did, was point out who is racist on this platform. Is there a report button for that?

Just don't make it about speed. MPP's don't like tickets.

Math lesson for the park in Kitchener with ~30 folks unhoused: 30 singles on OW = $733/month each × 12 = $264k/year to keep 'em fed & sorta sheltered. Now double the shelter portion ($390 → $780) for just the first 6 months to help with deposits & moving? Total jumps to ~$334k — an extra $70k, basically a 'get housed quick' bonus. Vs. the Victoria St. reality: taxpayers already dropping $66k–$80k PER MONTH on security, garbage, pest control & portable toilets just to babysit the mess. Add endless court battles, injunctions, appeals & Charter fights? That's hundreds of thousands more in lawyer bills while the tents stay put. Cheaper to bribe 'em into apartments than litigate 'em out of the park, folks. Sometimes the 'compassionate' option is also the fiscally conservative one. Who knew? 🏠🧑‍🤝‍🧑💰 #Kitchener #HousingFirst

It might be really small, but yes, this person just created a natural auto-pay based on all creator fees for holders. Nicely done 👍
