I was a happy software developer and had a successful career. And then my wife started baking bread and croissants. A π§΅on changing careers.

I miss my software community so, so much. There's a sadness when I see them gather. I no longer understand the inside jokes. I don't get to travel to see them. I am so happy for them, but they aren't part of my daily life anymore and I'm losing track of who and where they are.

But I am happy. I don't have to convince myself of that, not even for a moment. And every day I am learning better to live in this duality of watching a life I could have lived carry on, and living a life I love.
