National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, help us help you keep the roads safe.
ALT April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
Unfortunately, distracted driving has become a deadly epidemic on our roads. Cell phone use specifically, texting, talking, and social media use has become the most common distraction that we see. Other risky actions include adjusting the radio or GPS, applying makeup, eating and drinking. By driving distracted, you’re robbing yourself of seconds that you may need to avoid a close call or deadly crash.
Here are some helpful tips to keep everyone safer on the road.
▪️ If you need to send a text simply pull over and park your vehicle in a safe location.
▪️ If you are driving with others in the car, designate the passenger to handle phone calls, and text messages. This allows the driver to focus on driving.
▪️ Do not scroll through apps/social media while driving. If you find that you are having trouble with this, simply put your phone on silent and place it in the glove box, trunk, or other location not easily accessible.

ALT Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! 📞🎉
This week we recognize our telecommunicators for the hard work that they do every day. We reflect upon this week and appreciate the men and woman behind the scenes that answer on average 400 of your calls each day here at the Canton Public Safety Department.
Most of the time, people have no idea how hard the job of a telecommunicator is. They carry the responsibility of being the first line of hope or defense for those people in need as well as the line of communication between the caller and our police officers and firefighters.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is held annually to honor public safety telecommunicators for their commitment, service, and sacrifice
We would like to thank all of our dispatchers for the hard work they do every day to help keep our Canton community safe. 👏
Thank you to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church for the generous, custom-made goodie bags. All of our officers and dispatchers enjoyed the handwritten letters and truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of each unique bag!
