#arleg has adjourned. Typically, that's a good thing. This week, it's not.
Legislators voted to adjourn without considering a proposal to raise teacher and educator pay now, for this school year. This, in spite of a record $1.6 billion surplus that's currently in the bank. (1/7)

Our state legislature needs to listen to the governor and use some of the billion dollar surplus to raise teacher pay. Speakers at yesterday’s rally were bipartisan because paying teachers a competitive salary that reflects their role in AR kids’ future is not a partisan issue.

1,835 new Arkansas Covid cases are but a fraction of the actual total with thousands of unreported home tests. Saying the positivity rate has dropped from a high 21.5% to a high 21.4% is like saying the state's ACT scores have risen from a low 18.2% in 2021 to a low 18.3% in 2022

According to @nytimes through July 10, Arkansas leads the nation with a 57% increase in reported Covid cases over a 14 day period. North Dakota is 2nd at 34%. These don't include unreported home tests which make the increase significantly higher. @jamesgraham714 @UAMS_COPH

A Republican state senator plans to introduce a bill to keep Arkansans from crossing state lines to have an abortion.
Since this state senator won’t be back next session, he’ll have to try during the special session set to happen either later this month or sometime in August.
