On Thursday 4/16 at approximately 10:45 pm, MPD responded to the discharge of a firearm in the 1000 block of 2nd Street, SE.
A single shot was fired. There were no injuries or damage to property.
Members of @CapitolPolice, already in the area, assisted our response.

Unfortunately, Pete couldn't attend due to an off-site training exercise, so K9 Forrest accepted on Pete's behalf.

Our officers just arrested a person with what appears to be a gun near the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building. Please avoid the area. We will provide more information when new information is confirmed.
