Eleven cinemark theaters in California started regular open captions this weekend: folsom, Fremont, Los Angeles, mountain view, Napa, oxnard, rancho mirage, redding, Rocklin, San bruno, Yuba city.

Tracking sales of the ASL Jesus film (today 6/20 and Sunday 6/23) where we can. At just the ones we can track, the total number of advance tickets sold just blew past 15,000 (281 theaters with 637 screenings)! Yes, it has open captions for those who don't know sign language.

Every time there's a social media post related to open captions, someone w/o hearing loss says they want open captions. If the theater industry wants to survive, and wants to keep avid moviegoers coming, it needs to heed the growing demand for OC! @ercboxoffice

Ugh. @RegalMovies in my area won't provide Open Captioning (OC) for movies.
I talked to their manager about it. They refused to provide it because they can't do it. Not even let me pick the movie for the future.

I just thought of a reason people might not be going to theaters.
No subtitles.
Poor sound mixing geared supposedly towards theater has led everyone to use subtitles.
No one trusts they'll be able to hear while in a theater without being blown out by the music.
No one goes.
