Interesting situation with Roberto Martinez. Some might see a conflict of interest negotiating with Al Nassr (while managing CR7 at the WC). But his Portugal contract ends after the WC, so legally he's free to negotiate with whoever he wants. Still, it feels a bit messy...

"Now rebrand the commercial breaks to 'Tactical timeouts' and let the coaches trigger it so all the public backlash falls on them"

A center forward of Harry Kane's profile would have suited Real Madrid so well. Dragging defenders to create spaces for Bellingham's runs from deep, combining in tight spaces with Vinicius, dropping deep to play through balls. On top of adding an aerial presence upfront.

Thank god it wasn't a penalty, or the Senegal team would have left the pitch.

With how dry & poorly watered most pitches are in this World Cup, the ball sometimes bounces and rolls in an unpredictable manner. Defenders need to be extra cautious with back-passes to the goalkeeper.

I like Ismaรฏla Sarr but he's still an "almost" player. Almost a good dribble. A shot almost on target. Almost a good assist. But always involved, always attempting to create danger, just need slightly more technical accuracy.

I can't wait for the cooling break. I need to watch some ads. It's what I expect as a football fan.

"You get to stay close to your family/friends, we fight for UCL every year, play attacking futbol, pay you top wages, you play next to your NT captn, there's a spot to take in midfield, all players progress under Luis Enrique"- the pitch is obvious, PSG should be all over Bouaddi

No matter who Mourinho buys or sells, extreme success ultimately depend on top players, so 80% of his performance will come down to how he solves the Vinicius-Mbappรฉ-Bellingham equation (both in & out of possession).

Bouaddi added some 30M to his market value today. What a debut on the global stage at 18! What a player!

The Brazilians are the ones wearing yellow or red?

Big fan of Bouaddi, the timing of his defensive interventions is impressive. Morocco should activate its left side a bit more, too focused on the right & predictable so far. As to Brazil they seem more comfortable on the counter than in positional attack.

The introduction of cooling breaks, apart from being a capitalist trick to cram more ads down our eyeballs, fundamentally alters the game by killing any positive momentum. An artificial lifeline that bails out struggling teams & restores balance. It'll become clear during this WC

Some observations about FIFAโ€™s new rulings on transfers and players contracts (including 1 key change that favors Barรงa). There are a lot of inaccurate reports circulating, I'll try to clarify & simplify ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

To avoid such chaos, FIFA now *encourages* clubs to include a RC. How ? By setting a floor : without RC, baseline fee is equal to the player's remaining wages. It's like saying "set a RC close to his fair market value or risk losing him for this low amount".

Finally, the one affecting Barรงa ๐Ÿ”ต๐Ÿ”ด โ€‹First pro contract for 16 y/o players can now last 5 years (up from the old 3 year max). This fixes the issue of 18-19 y/o players succeeding in the senior team while stuck on outdated RCs (could leave for low amount or run down contract).
