Fairmont Hanoi - My review
We stayed in Fairmont Hanoi for 2 nights. And what a fabulous stay it was!
👉🏼 Booked a Gold Suite, and got the same without upgrade as the hotel was full.
👉🏼 Used 38k points, and was the most expensive hotel I booked on the entire trip.
👉🏼 Easily the most plush & luxurious of all the hotels we stayed at in Vietnam. We had the option of Sofitel Legend Metropole at similar rates, but from the pictures, this one looked better.
👉🏼 Our check-in was done in the Gold lounge while we were munching on very tasty shrimp sliders & yummy desserts.
👉🏼 The suite was plush, and modern. It had a balcony too, but with the level of humidity, it was practically useless.
👉🏼 There was a bidet with remote control as well where you could try to position perfectly heated water jets at the right spot, and then use the fan to dry as well! 😁
👉🏼 As per my request, a cot was already placed in the room when we checked-in. Two neatly cut & very sweet tasting coconuts, with Fairmont stamped on them, were placed along with chocolates, for us.
👉🏼 This was the only Accor property we stayed at in Vietnam which had a lounge. The Gold lounge was beautifully done and had courteous staff. Even though it overlooked a construction site, the views from the high floor were awesome!
👉🏼 We had our breakfast in the lounge, and that had a nice but limited menu. Maybe their main restaurant has a big spread.
👉🏼 The location of the property is great. We walked to the lake, and some great Old Quarter restaurants, without needing a taxi.
😐 Unfortunately we did not get time to savour any of the Fairmont's culinary offerings, as all our meals were outside.
😐 We hardly even enjoyed any of the facilities that this property offered. We did not even visit their swimming pool, spa, restaurants, health centre, anything.
😕 Language remains an issue even at the best of the places in Vietnam, and Fairmont was no different. Although the front desk and the serving staff knew passable English, the housekeeping staff etc. didn't understand us at all.
✨ Final words
Practically thinking, we could have booked a cheaper property, but the feeling of luxury here was unparalleled, and I would take the same decision again in a heartbeat!
