Pope Francis’ presence in the life of the church was a blessing.    His passing on Easter Monday is poignant as it follows Easter Sunday, the very center of our Catholic faith.  Pope Francis was a sign and source of hope for people throughout the world particularly the forgotten, the poor, the sick and the voiceless.   And it was most fitting that he was present with the faithful on Easter Sunday in St. Peter’s Square as being close to the people of God is among his greatest gifts. This was the culmination of his life and a call to holiness.  He never lost hope in the goodness of people.  He never lost faith in the mercy of God.” cardinalseansblog.org

Pope Francis has called for a day of prayer and fasting for peace in the world today. He says, “In this dramatic hour of our history, while the winds of war and the fires of violence continue to devastate entire peoples and nations,” the Christian community is reminded of its call to "put itself at the service of humanity." bit.ly/FastingOct7  #worldpeace #prayerandfasting

We give thanks for the secret service & first responders who acted so quickly. As a nation, we must come to grips with the incessant violence that has too often become the norm. It must stop. We must find peaceful ways to resolve our differences & avoid all political violence.

As priests we are called to be Eucharistic men,& the Eucharist is thanksgiving. As priests, we must cultivate the shepherd's heart, filled with compassion & empathy. It is the capacity for empathy that produces great priests after the heart of Christ. @CatholicTV @bostoncatholic

We must never lose sight of the mysterious presence of God in the poor, in the sick, in the suffering. Prayer helps us to be kinder, gentler, more patient, more trusting. All genuine prayer leads us to love God and love our neighbor. @bostoncatholic @CatholicTV
