I heard an interview today about AI in creative spaces and the man being interviewed said “AI is data, and Data can only look backwards. Creativity looks forwards.” And I need to sit with that in the best possible way.

They can only write AI books because AI stole and continues to steal copyrighted material from flesh-and-blood authors.

The very architecture of Toni Morrison’s Beloved—the structure that underscores the novel’s meaning—aims for and achieves its literary immortality. IMHO, it should be #1 on the @guardian’s list. It is also among the most precisely written novels ever published. Not one excess word or punctuation mark. ⬇️
I haven't read Beloved so will not comment on its inclusion at #2 on the Guardian's 100 greatest novels list, but no Liaisons dangereuses? No Bel Ami? No Dead Souls? And if you want to be multicultural and female-inclusive -- no Tale of Genji? theguardian.com/books/ng-int…
