What is a Deseret Catholic? One who has pioneer ancestors, and who loves and respects them. Who loved the Book of Mormon. Who loved his mission. Who loved the temple, and got married in it. Who became Catholic without losing his love for the LDS Church or the people of Deseret.

“Prots don’t get it.” —Mozart
In 1789 Mozart said that an ‘enlightened Protestant’ could never fully understand the emotional and spiritual depth of the Agnus Dei. He also wrote to his father that he could never live in a Protestant country.

My LDS niece got baptized today. My brother-in-law asked me to give a talk at the event. This is what I said. "We learn to obey God by first obeying our parents. You are blessed to have parents who love you and who love Jesus. You can obey your parents and follow their example and trust that they will help you to follow Jesus. The early Christians referred to the Church as “The Way” (Acts 19:9). Christians were those who had been instructed in the Way of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 18:25), who taught that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Jesus taught that the way to life is narrow, and that only a few find it. How can we know if we are one of the few who found it? Jesus told us to follow Him. We follow Jesus Christ by keeping His commandments. That is how we show Him that we love Him, just as we show our parents that we love them when we obey them. We give up our own way, we give up the things we want to do, and we say, “I will do your will instead of my will” (John 14:15, Luke 22:42). By being baptized we show Jesus Christ that we are willing to follow Him our whole life, and even to death. When we are baptized, we are buried in the water, and raised again from the water. Because Jesus gave us hope that though we die, we will be raised again by Him. When we are baptized we take the name of Jesus upon us. In baptism you become a Christian. Christians obey Jesus Christ. We promise that we will act like He does, that our hands will serve like He does, that our tongues will speak like He does, that our feet will carry us where He would have us be. I’ll pray for you, my niece, that you will have the courage to obey Jesus always."

Separation of Church and State is a fiction. It was always meant only to separate Christianity from the State. But all power on heaven and earth has been given to Jesus Christ. He is King.

Pope Leo's views on immigration should be completely non-controversial. He says he is against open borders. Countries have a right to decide who enters. Mass immigration is a problem to be solved. People should stay in their own countries. But that if people do come, they should be treated like human beings with dignity. He also says if they come, they should learn the language and respect the laws. But because people's brains are broken by American politics they cannot understand this nuance.

In his Summa Theologiae, St Thomas Aquinas laid out one of the most charitable yet practical arguments concerning immigration that effectively shaped the West for almost 1,000 years. 1. Immigration must always be proportionate so that foreigners can properly assimilate into the culture and mode of worship of the state. 2. Citizenship – and associated rights – should only ever be granted after the third generation to preserve the culture, mode of worship, and constitution of the state. 3. The common good of the citizens must remain the highest priority of the state, meaning, the state's obligation to provide aid to its neighbours can never be at the expense of the citizens. However, Aquinas ends with the sobering reminder that some peoples and states are incompatible with one another, and these must be held as "foes in perpetuity".
🚨 Pope Leo XIV has sent a WARNING to migrants, telling them how to behave when they arrive into new countries: 'Learn its language, to respect its laws, to get to know its customs, to participate in communal life and to offer your gifts with gratitude'

During the French Revolution, Catholic peasants in the Vendée who rebelled against the radical new secular regime wore the Sacred Heart as a badge of honor on their chests. Ever since, this image has served as a symbol of Christ’s reign as King and His stand against the world’s forces.

I just got a tooth pulled. Dentist said don’t chew on that side. But it turns out that I only have one jaw, and both sides move up and down at the same time. Tricky to take care of.

Today, I join my brother bishops in consecrating the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Let us entrust ourselves, our families, and our nation to His merciful love. May His heart transform our hearts, strengthen our faith, and draw us ever closer to Him.

Spielberg wants Christians to lose their faith because of “omg awiens.” But his best argument is the post WWII consensus served up as boomer slop.
Good summation of the desperate dying gasps of the Spielbergian Boomer Narrative: "The message is clear. The alien—the stranger—is the good guy. Not only the good guy: the savior, better than us. Empathy/openness is the only virtue ... The desperation with which they hammer the propaganda is so strong that I hope people will be able to see through it."

The Salt Lake temple is the center of Utah. The address of every edifice for miles is a reference to its distance from the temple. The temple is also the value center of the LDS people. It answers the question “why does our community exist?” Mass migration is making Utah another economic zone. Foreigners act in ways that disorient Utah LDS, because they do not share a center of value. They do not value the teachings of Jesus Christ, or the eternal nature of the family. They may even despise those things. Mammon is the value center of the modern world. Mammon is rootless. It does not care about place or history, and treats people as “Human Resources.” It is a terrible god, and will destroy any community of which it is the center. The LDS need to use their political power to hold the center.

Utah is a high trust society dominated by Mormons. I wonder how much higher it would be if we were Christians.

"When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” - C.S. Lewis

Saint Augustine calls the Ten Commandments the “three plus seven,” which is the Catholic way of numbering the Decalogue. Catholics separate coveting a wife from coveting possessions. Protestants lump wives in with possessions and separate idols from idolatry.

The first three are commandments for loving God, the last seven for loving neighbor. Protestants historically have used their new second commandment to destroy priceless works of Christian art as “idols.” From Saint Augustine’s Confessions.
