Even allowing for the distortion effect of our GDP, we are investing relatively little in education. One significant aspect of our system has been its resilience to underinvestment, or its efficiency, which is remarkable when compared to any other area of major public spending.

The most recent PISA rankings are from 2022, in which Ireland ranked ahead of Finland on Math and Reading, and slightly behind them on Science. Ireland was ranked 2nd in the world on Reading.
No uniforms, no religious control, no long stressful days. Finland is an educational paradise - no wonder it produces the best results

On this Solemnity of All Saints, it is a great joy to include Saint John Henry Newman among the Doctors of the Church, and, at the same time, on the occasion of the Jubilee of the World of Education, to name him, together with Saint Thomas Aquinas, as co-Patron of the Church’s educational mission.

Happy Michaelmas to all our schools
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael—Archangels! On this great feast, Fr. Gabriel Torretta, O.P., encourages you to pray to St. Michael, to fight for you against the deadly powers of the enemy; to St. Gabriel, to fill you with the knowledge of God’s Word; and to St. Raphael, to heal and protect you from anything that might draw you away from Jesus Christ.

An important milestone for CPSMA - today for the first time ever we dealt with over 2000 calls in one month - both we and all our schools are hoping for a much quieter October - it’s been a challenging start to the year

As Minister for Education Helen McEntee stood at a podium in a Dublin primary school to launch the State's new primary school curriculum it was difficult to ignore the smell of damp that pervaded the hall, and the state of the ceiling above her head rte.ie/news/education/2025/0…

CPSMA would like to express our deepest sympathies to the children, parents and school community of Annunciation Catholic School. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
Dear friends: Pray for the two children killed, all those injured, and their families and friends, in the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, during the first Mass of the new school year. Pray for an end to gun violence and for sensible gun control laws. May the prayers of Our Lady of the Annunciation turn our hearts to peace and move us to prevent all future violence. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
