In several simulated examples, both intra and extra-species combinations, we found that this approach results in a dramatic reduction of the noise and virtually not false positives.
In the analysis of graft-mobile RNA molecules (small RNA and transcripts) in #heterografting conditions involving two #genotypes, we merge the two genomes involved into a single reference before the alignment step.
I was honored to speak at #ICAR2024SanDiego about epiRILs in #arabidopsis and what we can still learn from them about epigenetic regulation and #transposable_elements mobilisation! Thank you Jungnam Cho for arranging such as amazing session!
Fantastic first day at @SEBiology conference! And my talk is done! 😁 Thanks @CatmaCator and Robyn for the invitation. Looking firward to the rest of the #genomic and #epigenetics in #plant session tomorrow!
🚨🚨🚨We have a new manuscript on the functional role of gene body methylation. Spoiler alert: we showed that it buffers transcriptional noise by using different epigenetic mutants in plants. Excellent collaboration with @bechtis & @CatmaCator. See a tweetorial from Uli below.

Super happy to say that my first ever R package has been successfully accepted to @Bioconductor ! mobileRNA supports mRNAseq/sRNAseq analysis and expression of multiple genomes - great for plant graft or host-pathogen systems.
