ALT A winter rural landscape at sunrise, showing a snow-dusted stone lane leading downhill toward a small village of stone houses. The rooftops and surrounding dry‑stone walls are lightly covered in snow. Beyond the village, wide rolling hills stretch into the distance under a soft pink and orange sky.
We're excited to see the results of the trips to Hardknott Forest made by local photographer Chris Routledge. Come and find out more at this free event. Places can be booked using the link below. The images Chris has shown us so far are really special.

Much Christmas jollity at Kendal Farmers’ Market, Frank in festive fashion, Peter flogging pheasants, queuing for Mrs Kirkham’s cheese. And the Gan Yam Brewery elf worse for wear after a few too many. Lots of Christmas treats 😁😁.
Belted Galloways in their native stamping ground on @BBCRadio4 tomorrow morning. Talking all things Beltie with Richard Wilson, on the Solway coast. #onyourfarm@BBCFarmingToday. Loved making this prog, a tonic to troubles!
You unlikely read a better, more thoughtful article by journalist Dave Lloyd about the power of local radio.
What we've taken for granted over so many years & what is being destroyed, particularly but not exclusively at the #BBC.

BREAKING Number 10 confirms that there will be NO U-turn on the family farm tax at the Budget next month, confirming comments from the new Agriculture minister Dame Angela Eagle to the BBC's Farming Today earlier this morning
A 10 Downing St spokesman said today: "The Minister set out the position this morning as the Government has increased the farming budget to £11.8bn, working with the former president of the NFU Baroness Batters in order to look at the year on year productivity of farming to make it more sustainable and more productive in developing a 25 year road map in order to strengthen the sector to make it more sustainable. We are committed to working with farmers. We recognise that food security is national security. The decision taken we believe strikes the right balance, protecting the family farm and insuring that investment in our public services that rural communities rely on." More now at @GBNEWS.
There’ll be NO changes to the Treasury’s reforms to inheritance tax for farmers, Dame Angela Eagle, the Farming Minister, tells @BBCFarmingToday. She says any rumours to the contrary are wrong. In tmw’s prog. bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002kq5…

Farm to Fork roadshow at Kendal Farmers market. “Can I have a go at rolling one of them eggs?” “No you cannot, we’ve got more than enough broken eggs already” 😂🥚
