Devolution and LGR do not solve adult social care issues or lack of funding for education especially SEND provision.
Replying to @rachelmillward
2/3: are completely failing to solve the real problems of local government. Inequality rises, the housing crisis continues, our bills keep rising - the cost of living is staggering. But Labour just pour resource into chaos, rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic like real lives aren't impacted.

Migrants didn't cut council funding. Migrants didn't cut NHS funding. Migrants didn't close youth centres. Migrants didn't sell off council houses. Migrants aren't filling our rivers with sewage. Farage and co. will tell you to point the finger at migrants. Don't fall for it.

I’m speaking out because cutting PIP would be devastating. It’s been my lifeline — helping me live independently and build a comedy career. Without it, I wouldn’t have managed. This is about dignity, not just money. These cuts are dangerous. Stop #TakingThePIP. @TakingThePIP1

Another town in England setting 20mph as a norm. So good to see towns recognising that both locals and tourists gain from lower speed limits in towns. Well done Westmoreland and Furness Council and Kendal Town Council. bit.ly/4kDAWLS

What would you choose to spend public funding on? The Lower Thames Crossing? or 20 - 50 rail re-openings (£300m each*)? * This is the cost of the recent and hugely successful Northumberland reopening.

The Greens now have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform. This is not something you'd be likely to guess from all the copiously salivating media coverage of Farage & his crew of billionaire-backed far-right chancers.
Another record year for the Green Party 👏 859 Councillors on 170 Councils in England & Wales Join us to keep Greens growing and to take the fight to Reform join.greenparty.org.uk/

This is good 💯 Pope Francis wrote this in the Hospital. “The walls of hospitals have heard more honest prayers than churches... They have witnessed far more sincere kisses than those in airports... It is in hospitals that you see a homophobe being saved by a gay doctor. A privileged doctor saving the life of a beggar... In intensive care, you see a Jew taking care of a racist... A police officer and a prisoner in the same room receiving the same care... A wealthy patient waiting for a liver transplant, ready to receive the organ from a poor donor... It is in these moments, when the hospital touches the wounds of people, that different worlds intersect according to a divine design. And in this communion of destinies, we realize that alone, we are nothing. The absolute truth of people, most of the time, only reveals itself in moments of pain or in the real threat of an irreversible loss. A hospital is a place where human beings remove their masks and show themselves as they truly are, in their purest essence. This life will pass quickly, so do not waste it fighting with people. Do not criticize your body too much. Do not complain excessively. Do not lose sleep over bills. Make sure to hug your loved ones. Do not worry too much about keeping the house spotless. Material goods must be earned by each person—do not dedicate yourself to accumulating an inheritance. You are waiting for too much: Christmas, Friday, next year, when you have money, when love arrives, when everything is perfect... Listen, perfection does not exist. A human being cannot attain it because we are simply not made to be fulfilled here. Here, we are given an opportunity to learn. So, make the most of this trial of life—and do it now. Respect yourself, respect others. Walk your own path, and let go of the path others have chosen for you. Respect: do not comment, do not judge, do not interfere. Love more, forgive more, embrace more, live more intensely! And leave the rest in the hands of the Creator.” —Pope Francis

Incredibly disappointing to hear the Scottish Government has abandoned its target to cut car traffic by 20% by 2030
🚨 Government drops commitment to cut car use It is deeply disappointing to see @scotgov abandon its target to cut car traffic by 20% by 2030. We need traffic reduction now more than ever — not only for climate, but for cleaner air and safer streets, a healthier and fairer society, and a stronger economy. Clearly there’s a shortfall in funding but Government cuts as proposed will fall on the people that will feel it the most - those that have the least.  We have an alternative, ask those who have the most to pay a little more.   People with £10m or more in assets would barely notice a 2% tax - it would affect only 20k people but raise £24bn a year. It’s  an incredible sum with which we could fund this gap and more of the things that desperately need doing in our country.   There is no shortage of money here, we just need a fairer approach to tax - take more from the few not the many.
