Neha Khanna highlights that climate action across Sri Lanka and South Asia is being financed primarily through domestic capital rather than international funding, underscoring the critical role of local financial systems in driving the transition to a low-carbon economy. She emphasises that net-zero commitments must go beyond disclosure and reporting requirements, becoming tangible actions supported by effective policies, legal frameworks, and a stronger focus on adaptation alongside mitigation. She further notes that while many companies have announced net-zero targets, a significant number lack credible transition plans and financial commitments to achieve them, highlighting the need for practical implementation, accountability, and measurable action to turn climate ambitions into meaningful outcomes. @ComBank_LK @Dilmah @Hirdaramani_Grp @CargillsPLC @CSE_Media @Nestle @TajHotels @FAO #ceylonchamber

Azusa Kubota highlights that climate change is no longer a distant environmental concern but a force already shaping markets, supply chains, trade, investment, and human development, making it a critical economic and developmental issue. She emphasises that climate policy can only succeed when it is integrated into economic policy, with the private sector playing a central role as a co-owner of implementation, resilience, and recovery efforts. She further notes that meaningful progress requires moving beyond consultation towards genuine co-creation and active participation in implementation, ensuring that climate action is both practical and impactful. @ComBank_LK @Dilmah @Hirdaramani_Grp @CargillsPLC @CSE_Media @Nestle @TajHotels @FAO @UNDPSriLanka

Marco Toscano-Rivalta emphasises that “Building Back Better Before, During and Beyond” is more than a slogan—it is a fundamental proposition that must guide efforts to strengthen resilience and sustainable development. He highlighted that risk has become increasingly systemic, cutting across geographies and sectors, requiring governments and businesses to view risk through a macroeconomic lens and better understand the growing direct and indirect economic losses associated with disasters and climate-related shocks. He further noted that the private sector is moving beyond traditional business continuity planning, with disaster risk reduction becoming an integral part of business strategy to enhance resilience, competitiveness, and long-term growth. @ComBank_LK @Dilmah @Hirdaramani_Grp @CargillsPLC @CSE_Media @Nestle @TajHotels @FAO @toscanorivaltam @UN #ceylonchamber
