After escaping Nazi-occupied Paris, and many perilous months in Vichy France, the Rebbe (1902-1994), and his wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka (1901-1988), boarded the SS Serpa Pinto in Lisbon, Portugal. On Monday, June 23—Sivan 28 on the Jewish calendar—at 10:30 A.M., they arrived in New York.

Shortly after his arrival, the Rebbe's father-in-law, the sixth Rebbe Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (who had been rescued from Nazi-occupied Warsaw in 1940), appointed him to head the social and educational outreach programs of Chabad-Lubavitch. Thus the Rebbe began his decades-long revolutionary work to revitalize Jewish life in the Western Hemisphere, which spread, by means of the emissaries ("shluchim") he dispatched from his New York headquarters, to every part of the world.

History is being made, ladies and gentleman: Kosher concessions will be available at the Pocono Raceway at the NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend. Fairly certain this is a first in the 78-year history of NASCAR. chabad.org/news/article_cdo/… via @Chabad

Looking at your world from Above, all is good. Looking at your world from within, things don’t always look so nice. Until you connect your world below to the world above. Then the goodness flows downward without distortion. How do you make that connection? By clinging tightly above. By putting all your trust in G‑d.

Getting Central Africa's Rabbis Into One Room Isn't Easy It took some conference-goers two flights and a layover in Europe just to get there — one flew from Abuja to Paris, then on to Kinshasa; another from Accra to Amsterdam, then turned around and flew south. That's just how it works when you're a rabbi in Central Africa, where getting from one place to another isn't always a straight line. But make it there they did. For the first time, all 11 Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries representing 11 Central African countries gathered together on African soil — marking 35 years since Rabbi Shlomo Bentolila and his late wife Myriam left for Kinshasa, then Zaire, with little fanfare and no internet, to build what has since grown into 11 permanent Chabad centers across 10 countries." 🎤 Robert Kraft: The Rebbe Reshaped Jewish Life From a speech given at Boston’s John F. Kennedy Presidential Library as Chabad Chestnut Hill @Chabadch in Massachusetts celebrated 25 years of growth, community, and Jewish life. At the event, attended by 500 supporters and friends, Kraft was honored with the M’Dor L’Dor Award. “Wherever a Jew finds themselves, at whatever stage of life, Chabad is there,” Kraft said. “This global vision comes from the Rebbe’s unwavering belief that no Jew should ever be alone and that every Jew matters.”

Should I Say Ana B’Koach? Nowadays, it is the Chabad custom to recite Ana B’koach: - Before the daily morning prayers, - Before the daily afternoon prayers, - During the nighttime Shema, before going to bed, - Before the welcoming Shabbat prayer, - After counting the Omer during the 49 days of the Omer, - During the Hakafot on Simchat Torah. Chassidic teachings explain that whenever the soul is in need of a spiritual lift, we recite this prayer.

So, Can I Say the 42-Letter Name of G-d? Although the acrostic is printed alongside the piyut, it is not to be recited, but only visualized. This is related to the concern of not mentioning the name of G‑d without proper initiation. Next time you say Ana Bekoach, think about the holy origins of the poem, and most of all, pay attention to the beautiful plea to G‑d to guide us and bestow us with blessings.
