Félicitations Antoine et Thomas. Your first milliesime.
I loved both these wines. And ‘25 such a joy after ‘24.
Chablis from a Chichee parcel just below the wonderful Vaugiraut. 25% oak (1/3 new).
Petit Chablis from Ligonerelles (10% old oak).
They’ll do well. Bravo boys 💪🥳
Report on Antoine Picq’s first ever Chablis vintage to follow shortly. (It’ll be totally biased because the whole family are close friends).
But - There is more important news from Chablis this evening.
For the first time since we emigrated nearly 6 years ago I’ve made supper 🙄
Exciting day in #chablis today. The first vintage for Antoine Picq’s new domaine. He’s the son of wine grower (and my neighbour in Viviers) Christian Picq who along with his brother sells his wine to La Chablisienne. It’s be my first taste of the ‘25’s. Report to follow.
Here’s how it works for all you imbeciles out there who still believe women don’t deserve fairness in sport
Wake up on a sat am and want to indulge your fantasies? Do what you like. Nobody gives a fuck. Here’s me identifying as nurse Gladys. Stunningly attractive. Registered MALE
Guillaume says he would start drinking his ‘22 Les Clos in 10 years @NickAnt12345 🤣🤣🤣
Actually that’s not exactly what he said. He believes it will continue to improve for 10 years. And I believe him. Which is why I buy 1er cru.,
So top 5 London restaurants (that I’ve eaten in)
Ok it has to be 6 (in no particular order)
Aubergine (1999 with a Gordon and Marcus en cuisine)
The Ledbury
The Ritz
Chez Bruce
Medlar
Cornus
Strange how the legend @ChezBruce is directly or indirectly responsible for 3………
2020 Grand Regnard (cont’d). A certain young French gentleman known to many of my followers who works in a local hospitality business, also known to many of my followers, confirms it’s a ‘cooking wine’ (his words).
The fact that @NickAnt12345 hasn’t dug out an ‘experts’ 95/100 for this renowned (and desperately disappointing) wine means either he’s not seen the post or one doesn’t exist…….
I went to the Cite des climats et vins in Chablis this afternoon where Domaine Pommier were putting on a tasting. Bit of an under the radar domaine who’s Troesmes I adore. 👍
Stopped at the Chablis Bar on the way back. Had a glass of ‘24 Chablis (no choice). FFS. Gut rot.
2019 Pinson Les Preuses. (Moving on from the corked one). Toasting the end (perhaps) of my piano journey.
Reinforced my belief that wines always need an hour our two of air. This has transformed in the last 90 minutes. Glorious.
Domestic trouble brewing in sunny Chablis. The wife has taken to her sick bed. Mega poorly. On the good side the weight is dropping off rapidly (I empathised by pointing out this was no bad thing).
On the bad side I don’t see much chance of getting any dinner. 😟😢
Just been sent some more pics of Friday’s induction
M Pinson giving the audience a potted history of my life.
Mme Pinson looking as proud as I felt
Highlight for me was a gent from Collan coming up afterwards and thanking me for stepping in to stop Rosine’s restaurant closing
As my followers would, I’m sure, attest, I have been very open to new vinous experiences throughout my adult life.
That changes today. I am henceforth going to devote my few remaining years to Chablis. You have been warned.
