At Cologne Zoo, 20-year-old elephant Tarak was asked to predict the outcome of the Germany–Curaçao match. Three balls were placed in front of him: one for each team and one representing a draw.
It took him only a few seconds to decide. Tarak walked straight to the German ball and crushed it under his weight. According to the prediction rules, that means a bet on a German victory.
He then grabbed the opposing team's ball and carried it around his enclosure.
Zoo staff are confident that Germany will win its opening World Cup match “with a bang.”
