❕The genocide of the Crimean Tatar people must be recognised by the world: Verkhovna Rada appeals to the international community On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People, @ua_parliament called on governments, parliaments, and international organisations to recognise the 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatars as an act of genocide, condemn russia’s discriminatory practices in #Crimea, and strengthen protection of the rights of Crimean Tatars and #Ukrainians living in the temporarily occupied territories. According to Oleksandr Merezhko (@ChairOlek), it is important to continue the policy of non-recognition of the illegal attempted annexation of #Crimea, maintain pressure on the aggressor state, and support Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian culture. «We must not remain silent about what is happening now», he stressed.
