Congratulations to WACCBIP PhD student ,Maame Ekua Acquah
@acquah_maamekua, on winning the
@FondationLOreal For Women in Science Young Talent Award.
Maameโs award-winning research, conducted at WACCBIP, explores how ACE2, the receptor used by viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 to enter human cells, may influence who becomes severely ill during infection. Her work investigates whether differences in how this viral entry point behaves across individuals can help predict vulnerability long before an outbreak occurs.
Her findings could reshape how countries prepare for fast-spreading viral threats and strengthen global pandemic readiness.
Congratulations once again to Maame Ekua Acquah on this outstanding achievement.
