They help fund the universities, which are the basis of our future prosperity. By coming here, they build personal and cultural contacts between the UK and the rest of the world, which are hugely important for our future success. All of this you risk destroying by pandering to xenophobia. The most successful nations will be those that are open to the world. Your Tory Britain will be paranoid little backwater impoverishing itself economically and culturally by fear of foreigners whipped up by cynical politicians whose personal success and wealth are entirely disconnected from the welfare of ordinary British people.
