Israeli International Master Benny Aizenberg scored 8/10 points to win the 4th Gujarat International Open Grandmasters Tournament 2026. It was a three-way tie for the 1st place as Benny Aizenberg, Nguyen Quoc Hy, and Abhijeet Gupta scored 8/10 points each to finish in the top 3 places according to tiebreak scores.
The tournament witnessed a historic milestone as three promising talents achieved their International Master (IM) norms.

An absolutely stunning 1-day event is taking place in Bangkok, Thailand - it's the Asean e-sports Cup 2026. And guess what? Two of the most amazing players in the world of chess - @MagnusCarlsen and @FabianoCaruana are here to play!
Also in action are Le Quang Liem, Salem Saleh, Jose Martinez, Alexandra Kosteniuk and other top players. We have a total of 22 players and 4 groups. Top two from each group goes through to the Quarter Finals and then we have the Semis and Finals.

The Local Stars of Uzbekistan are on fire at the UzChess Cup Masters 2026; the 4 local players taking part are currently ranked 1st to 4th. Mukhiddin Madaminov is emerging as a 2700 killer, having defeated all 3 opponents with 2700 ratings. In the 6th round, there were 3 decisive results: Madaminov defeated Vidit Gujrathi, Arjun Erigaisi lost to Ian Nepomniachtchi, and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov defeated Nikolas Theodorou. @UzchessCup
Currently, Uzbekistan players are dominating the chess world. We saw Javokhir Sindarov winning the FIDE Candidates 2026 in style. This year, Nodirbek Abdusattorov already won two super-strong round robin tournaments in Wijk aan Zee and Prague. Srilankan prodigy WIM Devindya Oshini Gunawardhana produced a remarkable comeback victory against Costa Rican IM Sergio Duran Vega in one of the most dramatic games of Round 3. 🔥♟️
Duran Vega held the upper hand for much of the middlegame and endgame, with his active pieces and rook invasion putting White under immense pressure. However, Devindya showed tremendous resilience, staying in the fight and creating practical chances. 💪⚔️ The game turned on its head when 65...Rg1?? allowed 66.c7!, creating an unstoppable passed pawn and paving the way for a memorable victory. 🚀👑
Adding to the moment, after the game, Tournament Director Praful Zaveri (@PrafulZaveri ), despite spending the entire day managing the event and working tirelessly behind the scenes, took time to analyze the game with Devindya. 🥰♟️ It was a wonderful sight and a reflection of his genuine passion for chess.
