‘open without fence or fee’ Cloister Windows (1920s) - @Chestercath #DivineLight Thirty-four windows with 130 lights, presented as an Anglican calendar, most from the studio of F.C. Eden (1864–1944) and A.K. Nicholson (1871–1937), alongside designs by Chester artist Trena Cox (1895–1980) The Cloister Windows at Chester Cathedral are at the heart of the monastic site that was once home to the Benedictine Abbey of St Werburgh. Their unique scheme of glazing depicts the liturgical calendar. More ⤵️ englishcathedrals.co.uk/divi…

Less than a week to go until Chester Cathedral’s Annual Christmas Carol Concert on Saturday 13 December at 7.30pm. It is one of the few times in the year you can hear our incredible boy and girl choristers together! Did you know Silent Night is a German carol titled Stille Nacht and was composed in 1818? Since then it has been translated into over 300 languages, and is so well known it has been recognised by UNESCO! A fitting song to hear from our choir with this year’s Christmas Tree Festival theme of Christmas Around the World. Make sure to book your tickets to our most anticipated concert of the year. Tickets included mulled wine (or non alcoholic alternative) and a mince pie. 🎟️ chestercathedral.ticketsolve…
