Fluoride varnish has proven very effective at preventing cavities for kids. But with fewer than half of kids in Medi-Cal seeing a dentist every year, many kids are not receiving this crucial treatment.
Pro-Kid AB 350 will work to change this. Authored by @AsmMiaBonta, it will allow more kids to get fluoride treatment at school by letting those working for or under contract with a Medi-Cal doctor or dentist to apply fluoride varnish and get reimbursed, while also requiring Medi-Cal and commercial plans to cover this benefit in primary care settings for all kids under 21 years old.
Let's get this bill across the finish line! Learn more about AB 350 here ๐ bit.ly/49TcMKu#CALeg#ProKidCA
Today, through The Children's Movement, 472 organizations collectively demanded California's leaders get kids housing support! ๐
California is currently moving forward with the biggest housing investment in a decade - $10 billion to build affordable housing across the state - and it doesnโt dedicate a single dollar to housing kids. Today, 472 organizations used their collective voice to change this, sending a letter to the Governor and California legislators urging them to ensure California's housing investment includes dedicated funds for kids. ๐ ๐ bit.ly/4ohnyjw

Parents who use infant formula deserve to know if it's safe for their kids - and right now, they don't.๐
Families across California rely on infant formula to feed their newborn babies, yet it's often not clear whether they contain toxic elements like arsenic or lead. Pro-Kid AB 2302, authored by @AsmCRodriguez, would help fix that, requiring formula manufacturers to test for toxic elements and make the results public. Thank you @rfobar and @ocregister for shining a light on this important issue affecting California kids and families ๐ bit.ly/4umBdHt

Students benefit when school leaders reflect the communities they serve. ๐ซถ
While nearly 79% of California TK-12 students are students of color, only about 30% of school leaders share that background. #DELPI is helping close that gap by creating pathways for diverse and culturally responsive educators to step into leadership roles across the state, strengthening school culture, improving educator retention, and helping students feel seen and supported. โจ
California must continue investing in programs like DELPI by including funding in the state budget. ๐ซ

๐ฉโ๐ "Education governance is foundational. Itโs a first step that will help with all the things we need to do to improve student achievement."๐
Earlier this year, Children Now President Ted Lempert addressed California's leaders on the vital importance of education governance reform to make California's education system work better for kids. Now through The Children's Movement of California, more than 950 organizations have joined that call. ๐ช

California committing to โMedi-Cal for All Childrenโ a decade ago was a powerful promise. Today, it's in danger of being broken.
In the year since President Trump took office nearly 225,000 fewer kids were enrolled in Medi-Cal, and that number will almost certainly grow as new federal policies take effect. Californiaโs schools need strong leaders now more than ever. ๐ง๐ฝโ๐ซ
#DELPI is helping aspiring principals and administrators earn credentials at no cost while receiving mentorship, coaching, and hands-on leadership training. Through this investment, educators are gaining the tools and support needed to lead thriving school communities, and by 2027, DELPI will support 367 diverse and culturally responsive school leaders across California. ๐
DELPI must be included in the California state budget to ensure this critical work continues for educators, students, and communities across California. ๐ซ
