We’re announcing the landing in Bermuda of Sol and Nuvem, our transatlantic subsea cable systems connecting the U.S., Bermuda, the Azores, and Spain. These cables will bolster capacity and reliability to meet growing demand for @GoogleCloud and AI services around the world.

Today we broke ground on a new data center in Horndal, Sweden, our first in the country, which will generate 100 direct jobs. We’re also launching a €5 million fund for community initiatives focused on education, sustainability and workforce development.

Google is now the first cloud provider to integrate 1 GW of flexible demand into long-term utility contracts. Our ability to shift or reduce our energy demand when it’s needed can help utility companies balance supply/ demand and plan for future capacity needs.
This is a big milestone for responsible data center growth and helps keep costs lower for local communities.
