We from China Retold are currently in Hainan, participating in the "Chasing Space Dreams・Free Trade Hainan" exchange trip, and in the blink of an eye, we're already on Day 3!
On Day 1, we flew from Hong Kong to Haikou, officially kicking off our Hainan journey! Upon arrival, we immediately headed to Holiday Yipin to enjoy a traditional "Old Daddy Tea" dinner. Old Daddy Tea is a tea culture unique to Hainan, paired with a variety of local snacks — we instantly felt the relaxed lifestyle and rich food culture of Hainan!
Day 2 was equally packed! In the morning, we visited Haikou Qilou Old Street, which preserves a stunning collection of Nanyang-style arcade buildings, bearing witness to over a century of Haikou's trade history and overseas Chinese heritage! At noon, we had authentic Hainanese chicken rice at Fuyan Chicken Rice Restaurant — absolutely delicious! In the afternoon, we toured Fuxingcheng International Digital Port, gaining in-depth insights into the Hainan Free Trade Port's latest developments and policy advantages in digital economy, cross-border e-commerce, and international trade! In the evening, after savouring local duck rice at Dongjiu Duck Restaurant, we took a night stroll along Haikou Bay, admiring the glittering city skyline from the waterfront promenade with a refreshing sea breeze — simply wonderful!
On the morning of Day 3, we held the official launch ceremony and salon event at the Haikou Westin Hotel, formally kicking off our "Chasing Space Dreams・Free Trade Hainan" exchange programme, with guests sharing their views and expectations for Hainan's development! After lunch at Xinhaifu Congee City on Binjiang Road, we departed from Haikou for Qionghai, where we visited the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone — the only national-level international medical tourism demonstration zone in China — and learned about cutting-edge medical technologies and innovative policies! In the evening, we arrived at Riyue Bay in Wanning, a renowned surfing destination in Hainan with breathtaking coastal scenery! Dinner was a Nanyang fusion cuisine experience, beautifully blending Southeast Asian and local Hainanese flavours — truly unique!
From traditional cultural streets to the modern digital economy, from the launch ceremony to the medical tourism pilot zone, every stop has allowed us to deeply appreciate the diverse and dynamic development of the Hainan Free Trade Port — truly eye-opening and incredibly rewarding! Look forward to the events ahead!
