In episode 4 of season 3, we are pumped to welcome Coach A.J. Knutson of Minnesota. Coach Knutson discusses his unique and effective version of the Triple Option from the Gun. Coach's offense has roots in the Split Back Veer, but has been heavily influenced by Coach Tony DeMeo and Troy Calhoun at the Air Force Academy. How do you keep the gritty, deceptive, gap-scheme power of the traditional Wing-T alive in the modern era of spread football? You evolve. In this video series, we break down the schematic evolution of the Gun Power Spread system, tracing its roots back to the Hybrid Wing-T. We trace how the foundational rules of the Wing-T—down blocks, kick-outs, pulling guards, and putting defensive players in conflict—seamlessly transitioned into a modern, fast-paced shotgun attack. In parts 1 through 4 of this series, we covered our basic/core Wing-T running plays from under center; the Power and Counter series with a sniffer; the beginnings of using the Gun to run Wing-T plays; and using a Twins formation with a flexed TE. In this video, we start by running many of our core WT runs from the gun with three-wide WRs and our H in a wingback alignment. What do we cover? The Philosophical Shift: Why moving to the gun didn't mean losing our physical identity. Translating the Core Plays: How classic concepts like Buck Sweep, Power, and Counter adapt to modern shotgun alignments and RPOs. Creating Space & Conflict: Using spread formations to lighten the box while keeping the same gap-scheme blocking rules upfront. Quarterback Run Game: How utilizing the QB as a genuine run threat unlocks an entirely new dimension that traditional under-center packages couldn't reach. Whether you are a seasoned Wing-T coach looking to modernize and open up your offense or a Spread coach seeking to inject a truly physical, powerful gap-run game into your offense, this breakdown offers the ultimate blueprint. This takes me back 30 years to when my son was six. I pitched him hundreds of balls, and he never got tired of swinging the bat.
Dad and son are doing batting practice when his son launches one over the fence. Dad can't contain his excitement. Baseball is one of those sports where parents can be directly part of the work, throwing BP, playing catch, hitting grounders, etc

We welcome Coach Bruce Miller for episode 2 of season 3. Coach Miller is retired now, but not before he had a very successful coaching career in Georgia. Coach won over 230 games, collected nine region titles, made five appearances in the Georgia HS semifinals, and won a state title while coaching the Gainesville Red Elephants. He changed his offense from Wing-T to a Power Spread offense based on the Tony Franklin System. He was also blessed to have coached some pretty good football players, including De'Sean Watson and Blake Sims, plus many more. I have been going through @Coach_ChadJohn 's materials, and he will be back on the podcast soon for some serious coach talk. It is good stuff.
Have had coaches ask me how I came up with GameDay Systems. @ChipSeagle had me on his podcast last month and I talked about it. So thankful for all the coaches who have helped build it into what it is. open.spotify.com/episode/4Vc…

Episode one of season three features part two of my conversation with Coach Tony Franklin. Coach talks about Hal Mumme, Mike Leach, his time at Kentucky, the origin of the Tony Franklin System, the revival of his career, his exoneration from all charges by the NCAA, taking the system to Troy, some of his poor choices, and his relationship with Sonny Dykes. Just like in the first part of the conversation, he keeps it real. open.spotify.com/episode/3YL… podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
