A Golden Bush-Robin briefly visited Chiang Mai Province in February. Of all places, this rare non-breeding migrant chose Thailand's second-highest summit as its winter pit stop.
I hiked 7 km (4.3 mi) round-trip to see it, and it was worth every step 😌😅🥰.

The Greater Roadrunner was one of my target birds for the trip.
A big thank you to a park volunteer who suggested checking the campground. Following that tip, I was delighted to find a pair of these iconic birds.

Common Pauraques at Estero Llano Grande SP, Texas, USA (Jan 2026).
A target bird on the guided walk, and we found three! They are masters of camouflage. I doubt I would have spotted them on my own.

The Pyrrhuloxia is often called the "desert cardinal" for its crest and stout bill. Males stand out with bright red on the face, crest, breast, and tail, contrasting with their soft gray plumage.

Big thanks to the park volunteer who told me to check for Eastern Meadowlarks near the boat ramp! Despite the name, they’re actually members of the blackbird family. Their bright yellow underparts and bold black “V” really stand out.
