Bricks and Lime Mortar
The house went up!
We are delighted with the look of the building, and the bricks and lime mortar are made for each other. They achieve the look we wanted - mixing the traditional with the contemporary.

As you can see, we raked out the mortar with a chariot to give us those clean lines against the reclaimed style bricks.
We sometimes left it overnight before raking it out. There were frustrating periods when we couldn't build or had to lay in the minimum temperature.

On those cold nights we wrapped the freshly laid lime mortar with hessian to keep the frost off. It worked perfectly and we are so pleased with the result.

House Update
People have been asking how we are doing with the house...
Well, we set ourselves a target of having it ready for Ellaβs 9th birthday party - a massive push, but we made it. We christened the house with a doughnut decorating party & it immediately felt like home π©

The kitchen sliding doors were absolutely massive! I hadn't considered quite how big they were on paper.
We went for @ReynaersLimited
Hi-Finity sliders in the kitchen to keep a minimalist look. They were quite evpensive, so we used CP130 sliders elsewhere and they look great.

The frameless effect glazing, oriel window and the glass-to-glass corners look amazing. The lads at Bespoke Design Glazing did an awesome job, so a big thank you to them.

Building the Woolpack out of biscuits was no mean feat. I could have done with another hour to do it properly, but that wouldn't be as much fun on telly.
