Why does the official plan for #COVID19 vaccine rollout not seem to include people in shelters? They are in congregate settings, have baseline higher rates of comorbidity, face structural barriers to follow public health advice so higher risk of spread. #sdoh #onpoli #topoli

North West Toronto is on fire! This is a snapshot of test positivity rates, good is <1%, 3% should prompt shutdowns, 11% is insane! Racialized communities live here and crowded industrial workplaces; it was an epicentre in wave 1. We have failed them once again #COVID19Ontario

This is key An often heard argument is that low risk folks don't have to worry about getting COVID First not true: they get sick But second, low risk folks interact with, infect high risk ones Maine wedding now linked to 7 deaths. None of them attended We're in this together
Maine wedding ‘superspreader’ event is now linked to seven deaths. None of those people attended. And this is the problem: 10-20% of infected people are responsible for 80% of #covid19 spread. We can't predict who these individuals are. washingtonpost.com/health/20…

A woman gets her breast cancer diagnosis without her husband. Every week she goes to chemo alone. A woman goes to ultrasound without her partner. She finds out there is no heartbeat alone. He finds out over the phone the baby has died. Bars are open. Covid in Ontario.

🇨🇳 China's economy grew by 3.2% between April and June. 🇮🇳 India's economy shrunk by 23.9% over the same time period. One of these countries has effectively eliminated Covid-19, the other has not. The cheapest and fastest way to economic recovery is through disease control.

Today in most regions in Ontario, you're allowed to eat indoors at restaurants and go to bars. Today in Toronto, my husband wasn't allowed to come with me to the ultrasound that confirmed our baby stopped growing. Priorities? #IVF #Miscarriage #COVID19

Perhaps the discussions re: essential caregivers for LTC/congregate care should have been given priority over discussions about bars and gyms. My son needs his mom, not a beer.

Look at the coronavirus protocols for pro athletes (tests every other day, temperature checks twice a day, group quarantining). Then look at the protocols for schools (handwashing, stay home if you’re sick). Imagine if we valued the lives of teachers the same as MLB shortstops.

Here's the thing about the mandatory indoor mask use debate. Like everything else with COVID-19, we're just delaying the inevitable. Cases will rise, either soon or in the fall/winter, and then we'll scramble to implement a policy to try to mitigate it. 1/

At today’s Board of Health meeting, Dr de Villa confirmed that only 23% of COVID tests are being reported by labs to TPH to trigger contact tracing within 24 hours. Only 55% within 48 hours. Until we solve this system wide issue, we cannot effectively conduct contact tracing.
