For the first time ever, the most famous American in the world is not the president or a Hollywood icon or tech billionaire—it’s the Pope. This is more than a Catholic triumph; it’s a cultural watershed for the United States. In a society that often equates American influence with might or money or celebrity, now our foremost representative on the global stage is a humble man in a white cassock, preaching love, justice, and mercy. NEW: A team source tells me the Knicks are interested in going as a team to visit Pope Leo XIV. If it happens, one has to assume Spike Lee would accompany them.

The Mickey Rooney of basketball, the legendary John Fanta, sums it up perfectly.

Quality tweet.
An easy way to spot a fake Knicks fan is asking if they want the Knicks to close it out tonight or game 6 in the Garden

lol. Coping hard about the Celtics.
Am I crazy or with the World Cup starting in America it kind of feels like the NBA Finals aren’t that important anymore. Like nobody cares anymore.

So we haven’t been a real country for the past 250 years? I guess that’s not as dumb as the time you got sh*tcanned from Fox News for saying “Black doods staying inside playing Call of Duty is probably one of the biggest factors keeping crime down.”
Personally I would rather have a real country than win a soccer game.

Is it too late to add this Wikipedia screenshot as an amicus brief to the Supreme Court’s birthright citizenship case?

Nashville delivers yet again for the Japanese people.
USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving. Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free. I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these." "They just come with the table, man." They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner. This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat. I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared. "Did we…?" "Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless." Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined. My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude." Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man. I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy. Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived. I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most. Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.

Barcelona’s wondrous church La Sagrada Familia came one step closer to a long-sought completion this week! Gaudi’s architectural marvel got a blessing from Pope Leo XIV to inaugurate its latest, and tallest, tower.
