CERN Apac - industry's answer to research collaboration. Coming to a university near you!

Circular Economy Asia focuses on 3 key pillars. One is the development of a secondary raw materials industry.

To kickstart our activities, we are hosting a series of 'Conversations'. But to join you must join CERN APac

Since 2022, I started volunteering for CERN APac. We focus on collaboration between industry and research. A great way to encourage more circular economy activity across the Asian region.

I am looking forward to having a home. Since the 'troubles' began 13 years ago, I have lived in 16 different places. It's time to stop.

It is with deep regret that the Malaysian arm of Circular Economy Asia, registered as Circular Asia Association, is closing down. Everything else remains the same. I remain committed to growing my organisation.

I wish I was not writing these Tweets. I wish I was tweeting about my work. About all the successes and failures. About the circular economy in Malaysia and Asia. But the reality is that things have become quite messy. And the worse part is - it could have been so very different.

I have lived in Malaysia for nearly 7 years and have not worked as a circular economy professional despite several attempts to secure a work visa. During this time, I have endured exceptional hardship and starvation. I like Malaysia, once I wanted to make Malaysia my home.

On 10th Feb 2023, I notified the Malaysian Register of Societies to close down Circular Asia Association as it was operating illegally in plain sight and knowledge of the Board of Directors.

On 10 Feb 2023, I proceeded with the online process by the Malaysian Register of Societies to close down Circular Asia Association. The organisation was operating illegally in plain sight and knowledge of the Board of Directors.

Dec 2022_Shifting from a recycling mindset to valuing end-of-use-cycle items as potential secondary raw materials is a big task. Because of how end-of-use-cycles items should be disposed of & handled prior to reprocessing. I contacted the advertising industry. To date, no reply.

I was introduced to Discord a few weeks ago and it is a great platform for communication. Since this screenshot, I have finished adding in all the channels. It could be an exciting place to network.

One idea I have for CERN APac was a Trello Board for project managment. This is how it looks like now. The aim is for stream members to collaborate on research projects. Of course I have only listed 3 areas: (1) Behaviour change; (2) Logistics & Collections; (3) Investment.

My original co-team leader of the Resources & Secondary Raw Materials stream was Dr Swati Sharma from PaintBack. However, her manager asked her to withdraw due to a potential conflict of interest. Swati would have made a great co-team leader. She's smart & knows her materials.

Materials & Energy are the two components that make up our world. One of the team leaders of CERN APac is Dr Glen Croy, Associate Professor, Monash University, Department of Management, Monash Business School Usha Iyer-Raniga (RMIT) & Amrik Sohal (Monash)

I'm looking forward to the CERN Resources & Secondary Raw Materials co-teams leaders meeting on Thursday with Jeff Seadon, recently ex AUT & Dr Ehsan Yaghoubi, Victoria University.

Slowly, baby steps.

When the PTSD became so bad, a kitten ran into my house and saved my life. She was lonely and so I rescued a gutter kitten. I did not set out to have 19 cats. As life became progressively worse, rescuing these cats gave me meaning. Now they are everything to me. We cannot part.

Over the last several months, I have also applied for a few jobs. Some in Singapore but mostly in the USA. Besides 100% failure, I suspect the jobs in the US do not want to pay relocation costs. I have also pitched my skills training courses during the job application. Hmmmmm :(
