Okay - confession time - I am a HUGE Tom Selleck fan - since Magnum P I. After a long day in @StPaulsLondon and a trip home in the rain I am watching him as Jesse Stone in the T V adaptations of Robert B Parker’s novels - perfect Friday night viewing

London in the Swinging Sixties - the whole place was vibrant, fab and groovy - and before this tweet gets ripped to shreds by the younger generation, remember - that could be your Nan or Grandad you’re ridiculing!… #eastend #London #history

I've cleaned up this gorgeous Victorian photograph of Dickensian London, overshadowed by the sheer magnitude & dominance of St Paul's Cathedral. It was photographed by John Leighton 166 years ago, back in 1859. I think the mooring poles in the foreground almost lend a Venetian air to the image, and the definition is so high, one can almost zoom right into those warehouse windows!
