The Region of Durham is proposing a new mixed affordable and market-rate housing development in south Oshawa. The development at 416-448 Malaga Rd. would be comprised of a 12-storey apartment building, two six-storey apartment buildings and two three-storey townhouses totalling 417 units. The mostly rural area of northeast Pickering is on track for development now that council has approved a planning policy. The Northeast Pickering Secondary Plan, which passed after five hours of debate and discussion at a special meeting on May 20, determines the framework for future development of the area.
