Quite proud of this one - totally new direction for us all, and a learning cliff not curve, but worth it in the end. As ever, the pages don't do justice to all the work @Miss_Prii_xx put into it. thieme-connect.com/products/…

I may be very slightly jealous of the view from my brother's back garden.

The Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship scheme is now open research.ie/funding/goipg/?f… and I'm happy to hear from interested PhD candidates. Worldwide applications are accepted but EU/EEA/UK citizens/residents are particularly encouraged to apply.

I cannot help but feel Henry Cavill took the role in _Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare_ just for the chance to cosplay as Ciaphus Cain for a bit.

And now, we sit back and wait for Reviewer 2 to tear our dreams to shreds. Well, have a coffee and get back to teaching prep, but you get the picture.

Today's discovery - lots of biological literature reporting that the biuret test positive forms from multiple secondary amides binding to Cu2 via N lone pairs. Apparently just like Biuret does. Except ... where the hell did that come from, 'cos it's not remotely true?

A classic lunch at the Black Country Living Museum @bclm - faggots, onion gravy, and (sadly mushy) peas.

Still time to apply for an autumn start on this PhD. For UK students with an interest in main group / organometallic / coordination chemistry, and/or ligand synthesis, come and join us on the south coast!
We still have a studentship, funded by @LeverhulmeTrust available for a September/October start @ChemistrySussex, developing the chemistry of heteroborolediide ligands. Full details: sussex.ac.uk/study/fees-fund…. If you like main-group organometallic chemistry, come join the team!

Not the greatest photo, but someone in Gillingham has a rather dark sense of humour.

I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did helping out on it. Not only did Aniello and co design a really elegant little system, but it's a classic case of "simple is not the same as easy". Of course, that's half the fun.
Replying to @PalmaGroup
This work was possible thanks to the collaboration of several researchers. Well done @DomBrightwell @KushalSamanta8 from my team and my collaborators @felipefantuzzi @ClarkGroupChem @DrMichaelJHall, Paul Waddell and the team @IndicatrixNCL
