A4: Teaching in a pandemic has affirmed my grading practices. For example, Ss can redo an assignment as many times as needed to master skills. I also don't lower scores for missed deadlines. It isn't helpful in assessing mastery of skills. #masterychat

A3: Grades are intended for stakeholders (teachers, parents, Ss, administrators, etc.). I think grades can be used as a tool to reflect on the learning/teaching taking place and open doors for conversations/collaboration among stakeholders to allow for improvement. #masterychat

A2: When grading, teachers who know their Ss as individuals consider the evidence carefully to make accurate, fair, and evidence based decisions about student performance. Grading is not mechanical. It is personal. #masterychat

A1: Grading policies and procedures should provide information and feedback that students can use for self-evaluation and growth, communicate achievements to parents/guardians, and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices. #masterychat

What if we celebrated kids who could add value to other's lives, in the same way we celebrated kids who earned straight A's? #AwardWinningCulture

We wrapped up our intro to thesis statements grid this week. The last learning opportunity tasked Ss with a challenge of creatively displaying what they learned. These young ladies asked me to share what they created with my education community.😊 *shared with parent consent

A4: I love Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. I could do a Family Feud activity with ELA themed questions. Ex. You're writing an essay in class today. What are your first steps?#masterychats
A3: I try to use activities that have curve balls, elements that are unknown, or aspects that need to be figured out. My students enjoy games that keep them on their toes. #masterychat

A2: Games are engaging. They can also help in building/developing relationships and are great for strengthening strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. #masterychat
