I joined pupils at Corngreaves Academy on Clean Air Day to launch a new schools programme on air pollution.
We read a brilliant story together and talked about how the air we breathe affects our health — and how we can all help.
Clean air is a right, not a privilege — and education is where action starts.

Every year, around 2,300 people in the West Midlands die early due to long-term exposure to air pollution. It's unacceptable.
I’ve introduced a new pollution monitoring system across the region to tackle this crisis.
It’s great to see organisations like Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition supporting my mission to improve air quality and give West Midlands residents healthier lives.

Yesterday we hand-delivered an open letter with local campaigners, @CleanAirJustice and #Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition to West midlands Mayor @RichParkerLab. The letter urged him to commit to meeting @WHO air quality guidelines and to meaningfully engage with local communities in the region's air quality plan.
