In 2024, just 277 miles of new large-scale transmission lines were built. In 2013, it was 4,000. That kind of decline isn’t an engineering problem. It’s a system one. If we want to power the future, we need to execute at a national scale.

Last night @CleanEconProj premiered “Ignition,” a short film featuring the people & companies working to unlock commercial fusion. With the right policy support, fusion is poised to become one of the most transformative energy sources in human history.
This week, we released “IGNITION: The Future of Fusion,” a short documentary from Future in Bloom about the race to unlock fusion. Thank you to everyone who joined us, our cohosts @ClearPathAction, and the @AtlanticCouncil for hosting. Watch “Ignition”: youtu.be/p6BKWOQ9tY8?si=Q4sn…

Geothermal is having a moment. As momentum builds, focus turns to scaling deployment. In our latest Blueprint, @daniel_wolf1 explores how an Appraisal Risk Program could reduce investment risk, unlock new resources, & accelerate commercial development: cleanecon.org/unlocking-amer…
The House of Representatives has now passed EIGHT pieces of geothermal permitting legislation. Earlier today the House approved the Geothermal Energy Advancement Act, a package of 6 bipartisan bills. Fingers crossed we soon see Senate action on geothermal permitting reform!

"It is truly insane that we just haven't bothered fixing the giant, one-hundred-year-old machine that powers everything we do." — CleanEcon Pres @AliyaHaq on the power grid @ClimateJobs Summit. Clean energy is driving a manufacturing & jobs boom. Policy needs to clear the way.

Notable: By 2035, developers must agree to meet 1/3 of data center electricity demand with additional, clean firm power.
NEW: Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) unveils sweeping new standards for data centers (huge issue with voters nationwide) Among the standards: They must sink it“sustainability plan detailing how they will deploy advanced technology to limit water & energy consumption by the data center”

Next-gen geothermal remains slowed by high cost of resource confirmation. @CleanEconProj, WSG & C3 Solutions are proposing a new Appraisal Risk Program at DOE. Would provide concessionary support for resource appraisal drilling across diversified geologic basins. Link below!

The key bottleneck for next-generation geothermal is the high cost of exploratory drilling at every new site. Our new proposal with C3 Solutions WaypointStrategy would help bridge the gap between exploration and deployment at @ENERGY. Read more -> bit.ly/4dIfpjm

Demand for clean energy is not slowing down. It’s accelerating. @CEBAPower's newest report shows U.S. companies contracted 13.4 GW of clean energy in Q1 2026 alone, more than all of 2021. Businesses are investing. Now policy needs to keep up. Report: ceba.org/resources/2026-stat…

Rate freezes are a temporary band-aid that risk making the affordability problem worse. If we want to keep electricity bills stable, we need to build more power plants transmission lines. And love them or hate them, utilities have an important role to play.
MYTH: Rate freezes protect consumers. They may stabilize bills in the nearterm. But what happens to the system when prices don't reflect the cost of building and maintaining it? @daniel_wolf1 breaks down why short-term relief can lock in long-term pain in Ep. 2 of Myth v. Fact.

CleanEcon’s Cristina Shoffner joined @Macquarie's 2026 Policy Forum to discuss how the U.S. can win the global energy race. Capital is ready to move, but capital follows certainty. That requires faster permitting, clearer interconnection, and policy that keeps up with demand.

Key insight from @daniel_wolf1 : the options can work together. You can get a more granular energy market (C) with state-overseen economic hedging (A). You can also find more and more interruptible loads of different flavors working with retail regulators (B).
