Deeply sad to learn of Christina’s passing. She was a powerhouse. Kind, principled and decent. Watching her work a room was always a masterclass in how you make people feel heard and seen. My thoughts go to Keith, Jack, Lewis & all those who loved her.

I am devastated at the passing of Christina McKelvie MSP, Minister for Drugs and Alcohol Policy and one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. A force of nature, Christina enhanced the lives of all around her. My deepest sympathy to Keith, Jack and Lewis.

We are committed to ending harmful conversion practices in Scotland.
We will work with the UK Government to explore a joint approach to protecting people across the UK, but we will also continue to prepare devolved legislation should that not be possible.

Work on a Scottish Bill was already at an advanced stage. Yet hardly any work has been done at Westminster - we could be waiting years to get a four nations approach underway.

I hope I’m proven wrong but this feels like the Scottish Govt is passing the buck and capitulating to a loud minority - and it is a minority - who don’t want LGBT people to live their lives free from hate and discrimination. We deserve better than this.
