We are now making our own radar mosaics. You didn't notice any changes? Good! Except, satellite radar mosaic overlays now update roughly 60 seconds faster than before. If you see any issues, please let us know! -Gilbert

As of the 12Z runs, the RDPS/GDPS are fixed, including showing inches instead of millimeters for snow. Also, a bug has been fixed where the script would start before the data was all in, so no more missing images in a loop. 12Z World and North American ECMWF sectors are fixed. -G

We have work to do before the RDPS and GDPS are 100% back online. All parameters except total QPF and some snow parameters are now working. And, we are working to get the rest of those back online ASAP. Thank you for your patience! -Gilbert

I talked with our local National Weather Service office and, they, too, were having satellite imagery issues around 14Z. Imagery has since come back to both of us, so it's not on our end. Even so, we apologize for the imagery hiccup. -Gilbert

Our radar and text server ingest software has been repaired, and data is flowing as of 12:30Z. My apologies for the data loss last night; the root cause (a bug in the software) has been identified, and this will be avoided in the future. -Gilbert

It looks like we had a failure of our data ingest software starting just before 23Z yesterday on one of our main servers. I am repairing it as of 12:30Z this morning. Standby, and I apologize for the data loss. I hope to be back up shortly. -Gilbert

Both the Texas Mesonet and Iowa Mesonet data have changed format so our software can't read the data anymore. That will be an extensive script rewrite to get those working again, so for now, I'm plotting available METARs for those domains. Apologies for any inconvenience.-Gilbert

We took some time this morning upgrading our satellite dish receiver system. No data was lost or delayed as we automatically went to our backup, but this will help ensure very reliable satellite, surface, upper air & radar data reception from the National Weather Service.-Gilbert

We learned of a workaround to add missing METAR sites to our satellite overlays. I'm sure we've missed a few, but we added nearly 200 known missing ones from 2017-2026. A few states didn't see any additions, but some like Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida /1

got quite a few new stations plotted. Indiana got 4, Iowa got a few that I remember. See if that helps fill in the gaps for your state! -Gilbert /end

New METAR sites added to the weather data feed from September 2023 through today are now in our database. If there are no stations around them, they should plot. -Gilbert

So far, our website is performing fantastic today, even under heavy load. I am optimistic that the "website is slow or crashes on big days" era is now behind us. We will, of course, be monitoring the performance of our website throughout the day today. -Gilbert

It took me all day to get it right, but SPC outlook overlays on our satellite imagery are now working again. Oh, and with CIG 1-3 plotted too!!! Thanks for your patience, and have a great weekend, everyone. -Gilbert

We're having a few internal network issues that kept the text of the day 2 convective outlook from updating. IT is looking into the issues now, but in the meantime, the graphics are up to date as they are received through a different feed. -Gilbert

We had a "top 20" day in terms of web traffic yesterday. We are humbled. Thank you for using our site! I made a few on-the-fly config optimizations, so a few of you might have briefly gotten a "http 500 error"...I apologize if that was you. Onward and upward! -Gilbert

Earlier this week, GLM Level 2 derived lightning data stopped coming in, apparently coinciding with some equipment failure. We are working on getting the faulty equipment replaced; we hope to have it back online in a few weeks. Until then, single-flash data is available as usual.
