How many ears do you have? How many mouths do you have?
God wanted you to LISTEN TWICE AS MUCH as you talk.
Listen and say 'coach me coach'
- Nick Saban video from Tim Luckey
When coachable players are held accountable, they understand it's for the good of the team and seek to learn from the situation.
Uncoachable players think they're being picked on and play the blame game when held accountable.
PLAYERS: Soon your season, your coaches, and your teammates will ask what you did all summer. You won't have to even open your mouth to respond because your actions, attitude, conditioning , and results will speak for you.
STRONG CULTURES VALUE ...
๐ฏ We over me.
๐ฏ Process over results.
๐ฏ Serving over self-focused.
๐ฏ Learning over stubbornness.
๐ฏ Encouragement over negativity.
๐ฏ Teamwork over individual needs.
๐ฏ Communication over assumption.
GREAT TEAMS HAVE GREAT TEAMMATES!
COACHES: You might have bad parents, bad players, or bad administrators but it's still your responsibility to continually improve as a coach, be a positive leader, and find ways to make everyone in your program better. Set the standard. Be the standard. Model the standard.
Your playbook may be sound.
Your ideas may be spot-on.
You may be right.
But you also may be โdead rightโ ๐ค

Your true culture is what your team does or says when you're not around.

It's a result of what you accept, allow, reward, or reinforce.
PLAYERS: Excuses and blaming things on other people will never get you closer to your goals. Losers find reasons why they can't do something. Champions always find ways to overcome challenges, avoid obstacles, minimize distractions, and get better.
The best teams have reserves who star in their roles and starters who practice like they're trying to make the team.

"You have to pay full price ... That's what commitment looks like. It's not when it's easy or convenient. It's when things are hard and things aren't going well." (Brent Venables)

PLAYERS: You're either making things better or making things worse for your team. You're never a neutral teammate. You're either helping your teammates or not. You're either encouraging or not. You're either providing a good example or not. Great teams have great teammates!
