Last night was one I will never forget. Thank you to Deborah Mize, Aimee Williams, and Fort Bend Athletics for encouraging me to share my story and for honoring me with the John Furlow Award. To be recognized alongside so many incredible individuals who have overcome adversity with strength and resilience is truly humbling.
For a long time, I chose to keep this part of my life private. I’ve never been someone who wears their scars on their sleeve or openly shares the battles happening behind the scenes. But sometimes God calls you to share your story, not for yourself, but in hopes that it may encourage someone else.
This journey has tested me in ways I never expected. Continuing to pour love, energy, and support into other people’s children while praying and fighting for the opportunity to have your own, all while battling a chronic illness requires a level of faith, perseverance, and purpose that can only come from God.
If there’s one thing I hope people take away from my story, it’s that adversity does not have to stop you from living with purpose. Even in difficult seasons, you can still lead, love, inspire, and keep believing for better days ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, prayed for, and loved me throughout this journey. Last night meant more to me than words can truly express. And through it all, I still believe… my story is not over.
