If someone were to write a Top 10 list of things going right in St. Paul, aquatics efforts might be toward the top. When other cities closed pools due to short staffing, ours stayed open thanks to free teen lifeguard training. Other cities need our kids for lifeguard help.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio did a mind meld with St. Paul Parks and Rec staff this morning. Florida, which tends to lead nation in youth drowning, is very curious about St. Paul’s progress with aquatics, including teen lifeguard training and now free youth swim lessons this summer.
