Lake Belton has named Jason Fossett as their new boys head basketball coach.
He returns to Belton ISD, where he coached the Tigers, after two years at Harker Heights.
Something everyone should think about, but that is rarely discussed:
When a school fails to provide services to a student, there is often little meaningful recourse for parents. Yes, parents can file complaints and report violations, but real systemic change rarely happens through a local complaint process. Even state complaints do not necessarily force a district to make substantial changes. In many cases, meaningful accountability only comes through an OCR complaint or due process.
While some states allow non-attorney advocates to participate in due process hearings, very few advocates actually do because of the complex legal standards and procedures involved. OCR complaints typically require attorney involvement, are expensive, and often take years rather than months to resolve.
Like any legal matter, parents can represent themselves. However, the school district will almost always have legal counsel, funded by taxpayer dollars, while parents are left paying out of pocket to fight for services their child was already legally entitled to receive.
Just something to think about.

๐ Before: Dreading advocacy costs. After: Feeling confident with a flexible payment plan.
๐ Parents often ask, "What's this going to cost me?" The answer isn't a single number, it's a conversation about your needs.
โจ Key insights:
โ Advocacy cost is like a car repair; it could be an air filter or it could be a transmission.
โ We are always upfront about what will be billed so there are no surprises.
โ We are willing to work with parents on payment terms over a period of time.

Big News. Real Impact.
Iโve been selected as an official partner with Karen Mayer Cunningham, nationally known as the Special Education Boss. This is a limited designation held by only a small number of professionals nationwide and reflects advanced training, demonstrated expertise, and strict alignment with ethical, student-centered advocacy.
This partnership means my work is grounded in current guidance, real-world school practice, and ongoing professional development. It is not opinion-based or outdated. Accountability, precision, and integrity are required.
For families, this matters. Your childโs needs remain the priority, even when that makes systems uncomfortable.

Too often, students with ADHD are punished for their symptoms instead of being supported. โ ๏ธ
Blurting out, getting out of their seat, losing focus โ these are not bad choices. Theyโre signs of a disability that schools must understand, not discipline.
Join our FREE ADHD webinar on November 6th at 7:00 PM (CST) to learn how to advocate for your child and make sure the system works for them, not against them.
Weโll also talk about how MDRs (Manifestation Determination Reviews) are often rushed โ sometimes only 5 minutes long โ when they should be protecting your childโs rights.
๐ At The IEP Coach, we help families fight for students who are struggling in school.

๐จ The Real Reason IEP Meetings Feel Like an Interrogation ๐จ
You walk into the meeting ready to talk about your childโs lack of progress.
You ask why services werenโt delivered.
And suddenlyโฆ youโre the problem.
๐คจ โHave you been working with them at home?โ
๐ฌ โHe just needs to try harder.โ
Itโs not accountability โ itโs accusation.
And itโs not just parents who feel it.
Teachers get hit with it too:
๐งพ โYou didnโt document enough.โ
๐ โYouโre not following the IEP.โ
Itโs called deflection.
A pattern in special education that shifts the blame away from the system and onto individuals.
But hereโs the truth:
Accountability shouldnโt be a blame game.
