The trade is the trade. Nobody forced you into it. If you chose football, you chose early mornings, sore legs, long lifts, hard coaching, hot summer workouts, and the expectation that you’ll show up ready to work whether you feel like it or not. Too many people want the rewards of the trade without accepting the cost of the trade. The truth is simple: the price was listed before you signed. So stop complaining about what comes with the job. Embrace it. Own it. Attack it. The trade is the trade.

Start ‘em young. Being allowed to voluntarily strain a little in a safe environment is a great, great thing. 1.23 x’s bodyweight for an easy high 5.

It's 1981 at @UTAustin and @TexasFootball's Kenneth Sims is making ends meet by pumping gas.🏈⛽️ #HookEm AUSTIN, TX 1981 (@fox7austin) — Today's college football players, lounging in luxury facility suites and signing six-figure NIL deals before ever taking a snap, truly have no idea how good they have it. Archival footage from the FOX 7 Austin Video Vault shows Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Kenneth Sims during his summer break. He isn't flashing cash, shooting commercials, or signing autographs for a paycheck; he is spending his hot Texas summer working a regular shift pumping gas to make ends meet. At 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds, Sims spent his off-season performing manual labor just to have pocket money for the upcoming semester. Yet, when autumn arrived, he put together one of the most dominant individual seasons in college football history. Despite missing the end of the year due to injury, Sims captained the 1981 Longhorns to a number 2 national ranking, became UT’s first-ever winner of the Lombardi Award, finished eighth in the Heisman voting, and was ultimately selected as the number 1 overall pick in the 1982 NFL Draft. Before the era of private jets, transfer portals, and corporate sponsorships, even the best player in America had to earn his keep one gallon at a time.

Every successful HS coach needs a strong right hand man that will be loyal to him & never undermine him. If you look at some of the best programs, they have loyal, smart Number 2 guys. WHO DONT WANT TO BETRAY THE HC. Too many assistant coaches with personal agendas

In case you needed more convincing, SaRod Baker is a certified dawg. It’s late in the game, 100 degrees, he’s sprinted 40 yard go routes over and over again. He pukes from exhaustion. Refuses the sub coming in for him. Then catches the game-winning TD. Baker already ran for 1,600 yards in a state championship playoff run and committed to Texas Tech. What’s he got to prove during a pool play summer 7-on-7 game? Everything.
