Jalen Brunson post Game 4: "Before we start… My thoughts & prayers are with a friend of mine I got to meet last week. Jonathan from North Carolina. From Make a Wish Foundation They asked me to make a video. But something told me to Facetime… I got the pleasure to do so…Quick call but well worth it. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family… May God rest his soul" (Reporter asks question) Jalen (can't answer): "Sorry…"

One day you’re gonna wake up and AAU basketball will be over. No more weekend tournaments, packed gyms, or team hotels. No more “one more game” next weekend. One day you’ll be out of eligibility for high school basketball. Then college basketball too. And eventually, the thing that feels like your whole world right now becomes a memory. So stop playing scared. Shoot your shot. Sprint the floor. Dive on the loose ball. Compete with confidence. Enjoy your teammates. Because one day you’ll wish you could go back and play just one more game with them. Fear and hesitation have ended way more careers than missed shots ever will. Just something to think about.

San Antonio libraries have launched a “Read Like Wemby” campaign, featuring Victor Wembanyama’s favorite fantasy and sci-fi books, per @MirinFader. Children can read books that their favorite player reads. Since the launch, nearly 160 books have been checked out or put on hold. That’s awesome 🙏

As an AD, I often think about how Nick Saban was able to win year after year, even with different coordinators and constant turnover. It was never just about talent. It was about having a standard, an expectation, and a system for how things were done every single day. Everyone was replaceable. You either rose to the standard or you were removed from the process. That mindset can sound harsh in today’s world, but sustained excellence has always required accountability. It really is simple in theory. Shut out the outside noise. Hold the line on expectations. Build habits that create consistency. Remove entitlement. Remove excuses. Remove anyone unwilling to be part of the pursuit of greatness. Championship cultures are not built by keeping everyone comfortable. They are built by getting everyone aligned.

Rajon Rondo closed his AAU timeout by preaching one thing — play off two feet. Not a play. Not a trick. Just jump stops. And watching his son Pierre and his teammates execute it is all the proof you need that this concept works at every single level of the game. The jump stop puts you in control. Not the defense.

Great burst / lateral foot speed. Will eliminate other team’s best guard. Lefty shot creator.
Milan Reeves (‘27)wreaked havoc on other team’s offenses in the full and half court before ending her season due to injury in round 1 of Districts. She made herself a weapon at the offensive end with timely shot making. Enjoy her JR season highlights. hudl.com/v/2Tmpf2

This is why i’ve always giggled when jealous people / coaches make claims like, “they only win because they have talent.”
Superb read! Dives deep into Ben McCollum's prep Look at this detailed list for vs. Nebraska, a team they already played 2x! "Shaw thought he had everything covered, then he & McCollum met. McCollum wanted to know the hand the post feeder fed the post w/ & who passed it" 😂

Lauren Betts on opening up to her team about her depression: “My mom stayed in LA for a whole week with me after I was released from the hospital. I took some time away from school and the team. That was what I needed. And yet, stepping away from basketball was extremely hard. I felt like I was letting my teammates down. I was so embarrassed and mad at myself. They lost a couple games during my absence, and I was like, My team really needs me right now. What am I doing? The whole time I was in the hospital, I was thinking about our group. What are they thinking about me? How are they going to react? I was just so ashamed. When I came back, I remember they were practicing in Pauley that day, and my mom came with me. A part of me just wanted to walk in the gym like, ‘Hey everyone, I’m back!’ And throw on a practice jersey and start warming up. But my mom and Cori encouraged me to address what happened and just speak from the heart. So in the film room, before practice started, I spoke to everyone. I said, ‘I just want you all to know.... I’ve been dealing with depression. This is what’s been going on in my head. And yeah... I love you guys so much. And I’m sorry that I had to leave.’ Then I braced myself for their reactions. And of course, there was never anything to worry about. They were all like, ‘We’re so happy that you took care of yourself. You’re coming back even better. We love you.’ In that moment, you could probably literally see the stress leaving my body. I remember half of the team was crying. They were all giving me hugs, and the coaches hugged me, too. I just hadn’t felt good about myself for so long, so that was like a release.” playerstribu.ne/Betts @laurenbetts12 | @UCLAWBB | @bigten | @MarchMadnessWBB

Tom Izzo shares an uncomfortable truth about earning your spot. "You play real good, you start. You don't play as good, you work your way back in." "That's the American way - except America has gotten soft." You don't get what you want in life - you get what you earn. It starts with showing up and earning it every single day. No shortcuts...Just hard work. (🎥@CBBonFOX )

Have you noticed this SUPER IMPORTANT trend in the NCAA tournament? Half of your shots come off the catch! And according to analytics (HS to NBA and WNBA), they're the highest Points Per Shot or EFG%. Each additional dribble you take after the catch, your shooting percentage goes down. Make sure your offseason workouts are aligned with this! Offseason workouts should contain these elements after a game-like cut: - Shots off the catch - Shots off 1 dribble > finishing move - shots off 1 dribble > pull up jumper - Shots off dribble move > finishing move - Shots off dribble move > pull up jumper - 1v1 and 2v2 games The 1v1 and 2v2 games replicate the action you're trying to practice. That way, they get used to shooting and make decisions against live defenders.

Tremendous coach/ person
ICYMI, Column: sometimes the good guys really do win. A lot. Four years after being cast aside by Fordham Stephanie Gaitley is at it again — winning big again — at Fairleigh Dickinson. It’s impossible not to root for her, and for the Knights. nypost.com/2026/03/17/sports…
