Omaha Eight ๐
If you're a high school baseball player, parent, or coach, understanding how college rosters are built has never been more important.
I analyzed every player on the remaining College World Series rosters.
Here's what I found ๐
There is no blueprint to getting to College Baseball or Omaha.
Across the 8 remaining teams, players arrived through 16 different pathways.
Different Journeys. Same destination.
Whether your path includes high school recruitment, junior college baseball, the transfer portal, or multiple stops along the way...
Focus on becoming the best player you can be.
The path changes. The goal doesn't.
Run your race.
Troy's roster is 76% transfers.
UNC's roster is 24% transfers.
Two completely different roster building philosophies. Same Destination: Omaha.
As a recruit, don't assume every program views the transfer portal the same way.
There is no single path to college baseball.
When talking to coaches, ask questions:
How many players on your roster were recruited out of high school?
How many are transfers?
How many came from JUCO?
Understanding a program's roster building philosophy can help you find the right fit.
Transfer portal with one year left!!! @andrewholub5
First team all region. 380 with double digit homers and top 10 in D2 for RBI
Working on keeping our spacing and posture to allow the barrel to deliver and release through the middle
I asked Division I coaches:
"What's the biggest difference between recruits who are ready to play in college vs. those who aren't?"
Their answers consistently came back to three things:
Physicality
Mental Toughness
Understanding the Game
๐งต๐
After collecting responses from Division I coaches from across the country, the players most ready to contribute in college are typically:
Physically developed
Mentally tough
Students of the game
Comfortable with adversity
Talents gets you on campus.
Prep gets you on the field
One final thought:
If you're serious about playing college baseball, you should be watching the Super Regionals and DII National Championship this weekend.
The blue print is right in front of you.
Study it.
