This clip continues to bešŸ”„! Let the ball get deep in all situations. Catch it with the barrel. Don’t go get it, catch it.

I mowed my IF on Monday and Friday. I mowed my OF on Wednesday. I sprayed weed-kill on Mon. and Wed. I drug my IF skin on Mon. and Fri. I watered my IF grass every evening. For a high school baseball coach with a natural playing surface, to do it right, he must work.

ā€œLet the pitcher supply the power. Your job as a hitter is just to rotate and let the barrel catch it.ā€ @Xavier_Scruggs, who had Barry Bonds as hitting coach in the Bigs.

We want to feel a rotation behind the ball not a pull!! šŸ‘€šŸ—£ļøšŸ“ This is the only way to consistently backspin the middle/inside pitch the right way. #hitting #baseball #softball

If the barrel follows the knob don’t we want to control when that happens? Or just keep the barrel inside the entire time? So yes there’s a swing arc created by the knob. That’s what direct means. The barrel works in a circle not a straight line.. that’s why ā€˜knob at the ball’ works so well.

SAME RANGE!!!!! 15 hitters with with some similar ranges. ( this pitch is Not low and away) - You can listen to coaches argue online about what’s right, how to move, stance, set up etc. BUT when that swing starts most of the good ones are pretty damn similar! #StanceSwings

Yes, I hate this!
Watching a game between Auburn with white pants and orange tops, and Ole Miss with white pants and red tops, is obnoxious. All these baseball teams have so many uniform combos, and we wind up with this? Changes will be made when I ascend to college baseball czar.

Few hitters in the history of the game could match the bat-to-ball ability of Tony Gwynn, who was born #OTD in 1960. Mr. Padre, an eight-time NL batting champion, had more four-hit games (45) than multi-strikeout games (34) over his 20-year career.

ā€œLet it get deep. Don’t get beat.ā€ A phrase that gets misunderstood a lot. It doesn’t mean let every pitch get deep. It means allow the ball to come to you enough that you don’t rush out front and give the pitcher exactly what they want—a weak rollover, pull-side ground ball, or early commitment. ⚾ Let it get deep = a thought that helps you stay patient and avoid chasing. ⚾ Don’t get beat = don’t let it get so deep that you’re late. The best hitters live in that window between too early and too late. Not rushing. Not waiting. Just seeing it longer and making better decisions. Let it get deep. Don’t get beat. That’s the balance. šŸŽÆ

Fascinating from ā€œThe Book of Joeā€ podcast with Madden and Tom Verducci. Lowest batting averages are from players age 30 and above. Give this a listen.

ā€œTry to get him flat, and you know, think about second base.ā€ Joe Torre on Aaron Judge last October. Judge is an all world hitter, but interesting hearing Torre talk about flattening out a swing.

You stay square to allow the ball to ā€œget deepā€ or ā€œtravelā€
ā€œIf I could say one thing, good hitters try to stay square to the plate as long as possible…the primary cause for me is the disconnected the hips go first and the hands get left behindā€ šŸ”„ from the man Lance Berkman from #THSBCA #the108way

Born today in 1960: Tony Gwynn. Won 8 batting titles and was a career .338 hitter. Had more 4-hit games (45) than multi-strikeout games (35). Last year, James Wood of the Nationals struck out 221 times. Tony Gwynn only struck out 188 times during the 1990's. #mlb #baseball #Padres @tonygwynnjr

A catechism for covenant children: Question 1. Who are you? I am a child of God. Question 2. What does it mean to be a child of God? It means that I belong to him and he loves me. Question 3. What makes you a child of God? Grace — God’s free gift of love that I do not deserve and cannot earn. Question 4. How do you know you are a child of God? Because I am baptized in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God made me his child in baptism, just as his Word promises. Question 5. Don’t you have to be good for God to love you? No. God loves me in spite of all I do wrong because of what Jesus has done for me. Question 6. How do you thank God for this free gift of love? I promise to love and trust God with all my heart and to live for his glory. Question 7. How do you love God? By trusting, worshiping, and obeying him, and by loving my neighbor as myself.
